Roadside Recovery on Highway 1

On the morning of February 22, an accident occurred just off Highway 1, where conditions were less than ideal with a series of slippery ice spots. The driver caught the edge of the road, causing his truck and trailer to go onto the shoulder. No major injuries were reported at the scene of the accident.

The load was a ‘Zoom Boom,’ a type of forklift used for higher elevations. The RCMP called Rice Bros. Trucking Ltd. to the scene, where we took out to winch trucks and picker to lift the forklift  off the roads to clear up the scene so that traffic could resume on the highway.

With the series of melting and freezing temperatures over the next couple of days, we strongly caution drivers to be safe on the roads and look out for icy patches.
